What is a business mobile plan, and how is it different from a personal mobile plan?

A business mobile plan is a mobile phone service designed specifically for companies and their employees. These plans often offer additional features and services tailored to meet the needs of businesses, such as shared data plans, unlimited talk and text messaging, mobile hotspot capabilities, and international calling options.

In contrast, a personal mobile plan is designed for individual consumers and typically includes features such as limited data, voice, and text messaging, with the option to add additional features at an extra cost. Business mobile plans usually come with more flexible payment options, lower rates for bulk data usage, and customizable features that are not typically available on personal plans. Additionally, business mobile plans may offer centralized billing, device management, and support options to help companies manage their mobile usage more efficiently.

How can I choose the best business mobile plan for my company's needs?

To choose the best business mobile plan for your company's needs, evaluate your usage requirements, research available plans, check for customizability and discounts, consider support options, and review the contract terms and conditions.

What features are typically included in a business mobile plan?

Business mobile plans typically include features that are designed to meet the specific needs of companies and their employees. These features may vary depending on the provider, but some of the most common features include:

Shared data plans: Business mobile plans often offer shared data plans that allow multiple users to share a pool of data.

Unlimited talk and text messaging: Most business mobile plans include unlimited talk and text messaging, allowing employees to communicate with each other and clients without worrying about overages.

Mobile hotspot capabilities: Business mobile plans often include mobile hotspot capabilities, which allow employees to connect their laptops or tablets to the internet using their mobile device.

International calling options: Many business mobile plans offer international calling options, allowing employees to communicate with clients or colleagues in other countries.

Device management tools: Business mobile plans often include device management tools that allow administrators to monitor and manage mobile usage across multiple devices.

Centralised billing: Business mobile plans may offer centralised billing, allowing companies to manage and pay for multiple lines on a single bill.

Customisable features: Business mobile plans may offer customisable features, such as the ability to add or remove lines, upgrade or downgrade data plans, and purchase or lease devices.

By offering these features, business mobile plans can help companies manage their mobile usage more efficiently, while also providing their employees with the tools they need to stay connected and productive

When can I upgrade?

O2: You can upgrade to a new contract ideally after the first 12 months of your contract. However, if you’re on a longer-term contract (for those on 24-month or 36-month contracts), you may have different Terms & Conditions; please contact us or the Business Customer Services to find out your eligibility.

Vodafone: Vodafone lines can be upgraded up to 45 days prior to your contract end date.

EE: If you’re an EE customer already then you are able to upgrade up to 180 days prior to your contract end date; however, please note that your remaining term with EE will be rolled over onto your new EE contract (ex. If you have three months left on the previous contract and with a new 24 months contract subscribed, the final contract length will be 27 months).

What is a business mobile PAC code?

A Business Mobile Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) is a code that allows businesses to transfer their mobile phone number from one provider to another. This code is a unique identifier that is assigned to the mobile phone number and is required by the new provider to transfer the number.

When a business requests a PAC code, the current provider will provide the code, along with instructions on how to transfer the number to the new provider. The new provider will then use the code to initiate the transfer process.

It's important to note that businesses must request a PAC code if they want to transfer their mobile phone number to a new provider, and they must provide the code to the new provider within 30 days of receiving it. If they fail to do so, the code will expire, and the transfer process will need to be restarted.

What security measures are in place to protect my company's sensitive information on mobile devices?

The security measures that are in place to protect a company's sensitive information on mobile devices may vary depending on the specific devices and platforms being used, but here are some common security measures that are typically employed:

Device encryption: Most modern mobile devices include encryption features that protect data stored on the device from unauthorised access.

Password protection: Requiring employees to use strong passwords to access their devices can help protect any sensitive information in the event that a device is lost or stolen.

Two-factor authentication: Using two-factor authentication to access business apps or sensitive data can add an extra layer of security, making it more difficult for unauthorised individuals to gain access.

Mobile device management (MDM) tools: MDM tools can be used to manage mobile devices and enforce security policies, such as requiring encryption or disabling features like Bluetooth and USB data transfer.

Remote wiping: If a device is lost or stolen, remote wiping can be used to erase sensitive data from the device, ensuring that it does not fall into the wrong hands.

App vetting: Vetting apps for security and privacy risks before allowing them to be installed on company devices can help prevent sensitive information from being exposed or compromised.

By implementing these security measures, businesses can help protect their sensitive information and prevent unauthorised access or data breaches.

What is a mobile device management (MDM) solution?

An MDM solution is a software application that allows you to manage and secure your mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. This can include setting security policies, monitoring device usage, and remotely wiping data from lost or stolen devices.
